The following suppliers are common brands. Chances are, you can find parts/service manuals on these sites. This list came with a diatribe about building codes. Here is the abriged version:

Keep in mind, most skilled tradeish DIY should not be, no matter what the tv, or someone in a red, blue or orange apron tells you. Many DIY books or shows are badly written, and cover the simplest practices and materials. (You will never see a DIY book/show from one of your older cities, where tradesmen still bend pipe, caulk lead etc.) All too often the big box stores compound the problems. They do not have parts needed to properly do a job. The items they do have may not even be legal for use where they are sold. Following all this, many homeowners get on the internet and look, until they find someone who will okay their half assed method of doing a job. Does it work? Maybe. Is it right? No. The plumbing code, is there to protect the health of the citizens by providing clean drinking water, expidient waste disposal, and preventing cross connection between the two.
